Compromise of 1850
Since gold was discovered in 1850, Herny Clay decided that Califorina could decide if it would be free or not. This is because more than 60,000 people moved there. They decided to be free. -
Republican Party
The Republican Party started this was a group of people that abosed slavery. The group included Freesoilers, Whigs, and Know-Nothings. -
Kansas- Nebraska Act
Sen S. Douglas needed Sourthern support to to put the Rail Road route in the North. He said that if they agreed that the Missouri Compromise line would be earse and the states could vote, if they wanted to be free or not, but all runaways must return back. This lead to Bleeding Kansas which was when people would sneak into Kansas to cheat and vote. -
Sumner- Brooks incident
Since Sumner, Northern senator, spoke against Butler, Southern senator, poorly; Bulers cousin, Brooks, decided that he wasn't going to let that stand, and he beat him to the ground. -
John Brown's Rebellion
John Brown thought that slaves should brake away and start a rebellion, this was held at Harper's Ferry, VA. . He felt as if they should have made a group and killed the whites. Also, he thought that he was God's avenging angel.
