    The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War lasted for 9 years between France and Great Britain. It can also be known as the Seven Years War. Which put Great Britain in an immense amount of debt.

    The Stamp Act stated that all documents had to have a royal stamp including playing cards. The only documents that did not need a royal stamp were books.

    The Townshend Acts

    The Townsend Acts were a group of four Acts passed by parliament to repay the debut for the war because England had raised their tax on their people to which they were not happy, so parliament decided to put all the debut to the colonist.
  • The First Continental Congress convenes

    The first continental congress was called by the Committees of Correspondence to responded to the Intolerable Acts in Philadelphia. There were Fifty-six delegates represented all the colonies except Georgia at the convention.

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Paul Revere rode his horse to warn the colonist that a British force of 700 men was headed their way. No one knows who fired the first shot but with that first shot, the battle began.
  • The Declaration of Independence is adopted

    After Congress decided that the colonies should have their own government, Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence and was revised by the committee. On July 2nd Congress voted on it, and on July 4th it was adopted.

    General George Washington crosses the Delaware

    It took two days to cross Delaware, but Washington and his men defeated the Britsh and took 900 prisoners.

    General George Washington winters at Valley Forge

    After the defeats at the Battles of Brandywine and Germantown, Washington and 11,000 soldiers stayed the winter. at Valley Forge and 22 miles northwest of British-occupied Philadelphia. starvation and bitter cold killed many colonial soldiers.

    The Articles of Confederation were the first constitution for the newly formed United States.

    Victory at Yorktown

    French forces cornered the British Fleet ending the American Revolution with the surrender of Cornwallis to General Washington.
  • The Treaty of Paris end the war

    After the victory of Yorktown, American battle started to cease. A treaty was signed in the Treaty of Paris by the US and British Representatives.
