    In 1450, Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press. The printing press made a huge impact on socitey. Books were very expensive prior to the printing press so as a result only the rich could read. Before the printing press, people had to hand write books. The printing press made it less expensive, and made it more affordable for less wealthy.

    Leonardo was born to a peasent woman. Her name was Ser Piero da Vinci, also known as Caterina. When he turned 17, he went to Florence. In Florence ,he met the great master Verrocchio who took him on as a pupil. Leonardo da Vinci had a great impact on the Renaissance. He helped introduce art in the most beautifull ways. He made a positvie impact during the Renaissance period and became known as a Renaissance man.

    Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni was born on March 6, 1475. He was born in Caprese, Italy. Michalangelo was a very well known artist. He was also a poet and an enginer. He was often compared to Leonardo da Vinci. He was known as a Renaissance man for the feeling of intensity he was able to potray in his art.

    Between 1501-1504 ,Michalangelo created the statue of David. There are many statues of David which mostly show him taking down his enemy, but Michalangelo's statue is different. His statue of David shows David before he shoots the slingshot. He portrays David's facial expression as focused but worried. In 1873, The Statue of David was moved to the Accademia Gallery, and then was replaced with a replica.

    The Mona Lisa is a painting of a woman . The Mona Lisa was painted by Leonardo da Vinci. The painting has been said to be "The best known, the most visited, the most written about, the most sung about, the most parodied work of art in the world." The most intriguing thing about the painting is the expresion on the woman's face . It is some type of mix between a smile and a frown. Today the Mona Lisa is held in the Musée du Louvre in Paris.
