The Process of Photosynthesis (2nd Grade)

    Plants absorb water from their roots!

    During this step, the plant traps sunlight with chlorophyll in its leaves!

    The plant takes carbon dioxide out of the air from its stomata for energy!

    The water, carbon dioxide, and sunlight mix together to make oxygen and sugar!

    Step 5

    Finally, once the oxygen and sugar are created, the plants releases it back into the air for humans to breathe! Then the whole process starts over again.

    Comparison to Humans

    Photosynthesis is to plants as eating food is to people. Plants absorb "food" and water for energy and to stay healthy and that is what humans do too!
