    This was the first time that Europe had seen such an invention. Europe had many languages but they were quite similar so the idea spread quickly.

    Gutenberg completed his wooden press

    which used movable metal type.

    Gutenberg returns to Mainz and sets up a printing shop

    First color printing.

    Printing had become established in many cities.
