  • Morning: Meetings of students's unions in the morning and rejection of the goverment measures concerning the planning of student elections.

  • Afternoon: Those students that gathered in the Polytechnic Univsersity decide to occupy the building.

  • 9.30pm Sit-in draws people to athens, Polytechnic packed, crowds shout anti american and junta slogans.

  • 9.00 am First barricades raised and two mass demonstrations form on Panepistimiou and Stadiou Avenues.

  • Midday: Farmers committee protest against the expropriation of thier land. Transmitting thier own radio broadcast.

  • Afternoon: Many demonstrators gather.

  • 6pm: Clashes with police and demonstrators, injuries occur.

  • 7pm: A mass march heads towards the Polytechnic, police cars appear and fire shots.

  • 11pm: The radio station and loud speakers ask people not to leave. Polytechnic surrounded by tear gas.

  • Just after midnight: Tanks appear, people killed and injured.

  • 1am: Polytechnic university surrounded by tanks.

  • 1.30am: Taks set off with thier headlamps on, students cling to gates singing.

  • Army give people 20mins notice tp get out.

  • 2.50am Commanding officer waves the tank forward. Gates fall. Shots are fired. Some soliders help students esacpe, but plain clothed policemen are waiting.

  • 3.20pm: No one left in the Polytechnic University

  • Military Junta overthrown, Democracy returns.
