Bobby was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes /was 12
Bobby is a former Dialysis patient and Paralympian. Bobby loves chasing life at full speed even though he is blind. Bobby first was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes when he was 12 and then became officially blind when he was 29. Bobby says he was fascinated with injections when he was 12 and the doctor told him he had to excersise more (play flag footbal), so that thought was very comforting. The beginning symptoms

since 1994
Bobby has been Chris waddells best frind since 1994. Chris Wadell is one of Bobby's best guides and best friend. Chris Waddell is in the red guiding Bobby. -
Skiing
Bobby made the US mens ski team and learned to ski with guides.
"I crashed a lot but after a little time I start to learn how to follow the guide". -
More symptoms
Bobby began having more symptoms of kidney failure.
Bobby was diagnosed and treated with dialysis. -
Transplanting
An organ doner was found.
within 30 day a transplant took place. -
Paralympic skiing
Bobby completed the Paralympics in Nagano, Japan and took fith place. -
Start over
Symptoms of Renal Rejection (Acute).
Bummer, he just started training again!
" If you fall down seven times get up eight." Bobby says. -
Treatment
Bobby was back on Dialysis.
He always Went to every treatment.
" Dialysis in the morning and skiing in the evening" Was Bobby's schedule.
" Working closely with the doctors, using them as my support system was critical. I chose to be very proactive. Doctors know a lot, but you need to be your own best advocate." -
Lottery ticket
Found a donar for the second double transplant.
Not only did bobby get his kidney and pancreas transplant once, he got them twice while falling in love. Bobby won the lottery twice after two years of being diagnosed. While bobby was going through the process of finding a donar and Dialysis
his nurse became his true love. When Bobby was on dialysis he threw up on her (Therese), but she was okay with that because she loved him. Bobby was very determined to regain his health, He was very focussed -
Since 2003
Bobby's labs are normal and his energy level has been great and actively used. -
Back to normal
Bobby started biking again and completed 23 races. http://www.rideblindracing.com/media.shtml gives many photos and videos of Bobby's adventures during these 23 races. -
Triatholan
Took place in a mountain bike Triatholan Championship for the Nissan XTERRA. -
Race Across America
Bobby completed a 3,000 mile Race Across America
for the Donate Life to Promote Awareness foundation. -
Downy ville
Bobby completed the Downy ville Downhill which was a 17 mile course downhill.
