    The laws denied the Jewish people of fundamental civil and human rights: Jewish children couldn't attend school, Jews couldn't buy eggs or milk, they had to hand-over all fur coats and woolen items. It became illegal for Jewish people to hire any Aryan or Christian for work, professional or household eg. maid, babysitter.

    Jaffa Mozes, their mother was ill with typhoid fever

    Typhoid is a deadly bacterial infection. It was common during World War two due to the unhygienic conditions and lack of sanitation. German POW's, people in ghetto's and concentration camps were severely affected. It is estimated millions of Jews died from the disease and were buried in mass graves.
  • The Mozes try to flee

    All Jews in Nazi occupied land were ordered to stay in house-arrest, Eva, Miriam, their 2 older sisters and parents attempted to flee but couldn't get past their front-yard where they were caught and sent back into their home.
  • A prisoner in their own home

    All Jews were to be on house-arrest until further notified. At this point in time it became evident that the Nazi's posed an imminent threat to all Jews. There were many restrictions placed on Jews. These restrictions meant that all Jews had to wear a 'gold star' made of cloth, that read 'Jude' meaning Jew in German- the star symbol was used to distinguish, Aryans and the Jews. As a result, many Jewish people were subject to public humiliation and frequent insults.
  • The family is taken to 'Şimleu Silvaniei'

    Simleu Silvaniel is one of many ghettos, a place where Jewish people were forced to live, to separate them from other members of society. From the ghetto's people who were deemed fit for work were taken to concentration camps and the others were murdered.
  • The Mozes family is taken to Auschwitz, Concentration Camp, Poland

    There is no exact date, but its estimated that a few weeks after being moved into the ghetto, Eva, Miriam and their family were transported to Auschwitz in the infamous Nazi trains.

    The twins are kept at Auschwitz

    Miriam and Eva, were separated from their parents and older sisters almost instantaneously after they arrived. They do no know of their fate, to this day.
    While at Auschwitz, the twins were tortured and rigorous, painful experiments were performed on them through-out their time at Auschwitz.
  • Finally free

    On 27th January 2017 Auschwitz is finally liberated. Eva reports women ran into their barracks and yelled "We are free! We are free!".

    'Aunt Csengenery'

    After the liberation of Auschwitz, all the orphaned children were being sent to a monastery in Katowice, Poland. Miriam and Eva had become close friends with the Csengenery twins who were living in a nearby Displaced Persons camp. Miriam and Eva convinced Mrs. Csengenery to pose as their aunt and care for them until they could fend for themselves.
  • Reunion with aunt Iren

    In September of 1946, the Csengenery twins, their mother and the Mozes twins traveled to the Mozes's home town of Portz. Here they were reunited with their aunt Iren, who was the only member of their family to have survived Auschwitz.
  • The family farm; all that was left

    Their family farm was seized by the Rumanian government.
  • The Russian Communism Club

    After Russia became a communist government Eva became a part of the communist club. She was taken down from her post [in the club] for letting younger kids, go home to study in-between two parades they were to perform on may-day.
  • Eva and Miriam's uncle is taken away

    Suddenly, one day their uncle was taken away by the police. Iren nor them were given a reason.
  • A new beginning

    Eva and Miriam with their aunt and uncle, safely arrived in Haifa, Israel. There they met with a few of their relatives.
  • Giving back

    After spending two years in an Israeli school, at the age of 18, Eva enlisted in the Israeli army.
  • A new chapter; Marriage

    Eva moves to Indiana, with her American husband who is also a Holocaust survivor.
  • The death of Miriam

    Eva lost her better-half sometime in 1987, as a result of kidney failure. It is understood that this had to do with the experiments that were performed on them as children.
  • Educating the youth- CANDLES

    In 1995, Eva established CANDLES (Children Of Auschwitz Nasty Deadly Lab Experiments Survivors) in Terre-Haute Indiana. Through the museum, Eva hopes to educate the youth of today about the happenings of yesterday. She wants to ensure that her legacy is never forgotten, and that the past is never, ever repeated again.
