Pablo Escobar was born in Rionegro, Colombia to a farmer and a teacher. He was raised in the city of Medellin.

He was thought to have began his criminal life as a teen by stealing gravestones, and then later became involved with criminal Oscar Aguirre, who he ran petty street scams, sold contraband cigarettes & fake lottery tickets, and stole cars with. He also was a thief, bodyguard, and ransom kidnapper. Escobar briefly studied at the university of Universidad Autónoma Latinoamericana of Medellin, but left without a degree.

He ran the Medellín Cartel, a ruthless, extremely complexly organized Colombian drug cartel that operated in Bolivia, Colombia, Central America, Peru, and the United States, as well as in Canada and Europe. He was responsible for an estimated 80% of cocaine drug cartels smuggled into the US and earned over 21.9 billion USD a year at the peak of his career.

He was also a politician, and was elected as an alternative in the House of Representatives of the Colombian Congress.

Pablo Escobar was cornered by Colombian police, and after a failed attempt to escape across the rooftops, he and his bodyguards were shot and killed.
