First Recording
The first recording was odn his first invention the cylinder phonograph. It was a recording of Thomas Edison singing Mary Had a Little Lamb. It was recorded on a roll of tin foil that when played back it created the noises that were spoke into it. -
The Lightbulb
On this date Edison arrived at the idea of how to create and work the carbon filament lamp. This later became known as the lightbulb. It was the first complete drawing of the lamp that later revolutionized the world. The lightbulb was officially invented in 1880. -
Edison Illuminating Company
Shortly after inventing the lightbulb, Edison started thte Edison Illuminating Company which provided electricity to neighborhoods. The Edison Illuminating Company became General Electric later. -
Edison's Army Influence
Edison's phonograph became so popular that when the United States entered WWI, there was multiple regiments that bought the phonograph. It was used to play music and keep the spirits high around the camps as well as used to create and leave messages for each other. -
Edison's Patents
By his 80s in the 1920s Edison had officially had 1,096 U.S. patents to his name and over 1,000 others that were patents globally. Edison was a great inventor and an intelligent mant that let him gain over 2,000 patents to his lifetime. -
