    A Larva is a baby caterpillar that grows into an adult caterpillar over the span of 14 days. It will shead its skin 5 different times during this growth period.

    This is the third stage known as the pupa. This is when the caterpillar will form the cocoon. It will begin hanging from a tree branch in a J shape and develop the cocoon over a period of 12 hours. After two weeks the caterpillar will become an adult butterfly.
