the land in which Mr. Beck had chose to build the inn on years later was originally been settled by Aaron Dixon in 1867. -

inbetween the settling by Aaron Dixon and the purchase and building by Mr. Beck, the land had changed owners several times before Beck had found it. -
James A. Beck started a survey of all lakefront propertys
he started this survey in search for the best spot for a hotel/resort -

The Beginning of James A. Beck
In the beginning James A. Beck made a thorough survey of all points on beautiful west okoboji lake in an attempt to find the ideal location for summer hotel. he found a parcel of land along the eastern shore of the that was swept by prevailing southerly winds on a hot summer day. -
the first prices
an 1898 brochure said that "people familiar with the beautiful sand and pebble beach, and the facilities with bathing and the very choice surroundings, the way of shade and afford an ideal place for rest and recreation. Rates for room and board will range between the moderate sums of $7 and $12 per week." -
the fire
The Inn caught fire in 1934, but had been put out and was repaired very quickly which helped it remain the grand hotel of Lake Okoboji -
brazer and pavilion of the inn
it was removed and the rainbow was added in 1936 and became the main dancing room. -
The Inn was replaced
in the year of 1955 The Inn was replaced with New Inn Resort complex. -

during the summer of 1999 The Inn at okoboji was beautifully restored by David and Lisa Slattery of Omaha, NE. -
change of ownership/management
last year Mr. and Mrs. slattery turned over their ownership of The Inn to the current management, who are doing very well and are working towards continued growth and look forward to continuing the slatterys traditions. -
