In 1525, Huayna Capac died of smallpox, a disease that the Inca had no immunity to, and was brought in by the Spanish conquistadors.

In 1532, Pizarro captured Atahualpa at Cajamarca. He was held prisoner and eventually killed.

In 1572, the conquistadors took over a major city. This essentially ended the Inca, although there were small rebellions later that were suppressed.
