  • The first public screening of a film launched

    The film was called "Marvellous Cinematograph" and it was shown to 20 business men in New York City. The french film maker showed the film to the business men on his 40th birthday. Info from here.
  • First Police Fingerprint in the UK

    Earlier in 1902 (June 27th) someone broke into a house and the police took a photograph of a fingerprint which was then later identified as 41-year old Harry Jackson. He was setensed to 7 years in prison and became the first person to be convicted based upon fingerprint evidence.

  • QR Codes avaliable

    Its full name is a Quick release code - it allows people to view details of a webiste instantly from an iPhone or any other smartphone device. It can be used as advertising for example if you are waiting for a ride in a theme park. In Australia there are QR Codes on the FOR SALE sign of a house so you can see all the details of the house and pictures just by looking at the website. It was first designed in 1994 in Japan.

    This service allowed people to play online with one another and also let people download games directly from their console.

    Facebook was invented by a man called Mark Zuckerberg in 2004. At first it was called "The Facebook - thefacebook.com" but was then changed to just "facebook.com". Now, Facebook has over 600 million users and the website is worth £9 billion (as of 2011)

  • Youtube Launched

    It is the worlds biggest video sharing site to date affecting many people to date, it recently had a video passing over 1 billion views worldwide. It was called Gangnam Style by PSY. It also has many unviewed videos such as Gang Wars by archiedewhurst123.
  • First iPhone ever

    Info from Wikipedia. The first generation iPhone was released in 2007 and did not have 3G to start - that came in 2008. 250 million iPhones have been sold to date (All Generations). At first they weighed 135 grams but now the iPhone 5 is only 112 grams. The first to 3rd generation iPhones has a smooth edge but now the 4, 4S and 5 all have a rectangular look. 1 in 28 people have an iPhone (or have had an iPhone) to date.
  • Avatar Released - in 3D! (London Premier)

    This was a significant moment because it showed amazing effects for the time - and it took such a long time to produce - It was first planned in 1994 by James Cameron but he was unable to start it as the technology back in the day wasn't good enough.     This was the offical announcement from Facebook: This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month.

    Google Glass is a new idea on the market that allows users to wear glasses with a computer attached that can help you with many tasks, it has the following build in specification:
    Android 4.0.3 and higher
    5-megapixel camera, capable of 720p video recording
    Wi-Fi 802.11b/g
    Bluetooth 4.0
    16GB storage (12 GB available)
    It can also give you directions as it has a built in GPS, it can search the web via Google, it can translate and even tell you the weather.
