William G. Morgan invented volleyball

-William G. Morgan decided to combine elements of basketball, baseball, tennis, and handball to create volleyball
-It was originally called Mintonette

A special ball was designed for the sport

-William G. Morgan tried a basketball bladder, but this was too light and too slow. So he tried the basketball itself, which was too big and too heavy.
-The actual volleyball was leather covered.

The development of volleyball on the Asian continent

-It was included in the programme of the first far-eastern games in manila
-”Brown” rules: used 16 players to enable a greater participation in matches

Set and Spike are born

-The set and spike was developed in the phillipines

First outdoors beach
