    The First Lava Lamp was created in 1963 by a man named Edward Craven Walker who was an Engineer.The Lava Lamp is made witha a mixture of water and a solidified globule of mineral oil,paraffin wax and petroleum jelly with a mix of colorful dye. Edward Craven Walker Made made the Hypnotic light which would soon become a phenomenon through out the world.

    In 1965 an entreprenuer named Adolph Wertheimer Discovered the Lava Lamp at a German Trade show and loved what he saw saw. He bought some of the rights from Edward Craven Walker and started Producing Lava Lamps in the USA.

    In the late 1970s, Lava-Simplex had created a few new lamps, such as a 70s version of the KaleidoLite, and a couple of psychedelic light show lamps. The lamps were a success throughout the 1970s. Lava Corporation's name changed to Lava-Simplex-Scribe International in the early 1970s.

    Edward Craven Walker, the inventor of the lava lamp, died of cancer on August 15, 2000, at 82 years old. The Lava lamp itself is doing quite well. Sales of up to 400,000 a year have been reported. "I think it will always be popular,'' Walker once said. "It's like the cycle of life. It grows, breaks up, falls down, and then starts all over again."
