Modern soccer started in England. When it first began it was very rough and dangerous,with a lot of punching and kicking and because of this in 1365 King Edward the Third banned soccer.

In 1424, another king banned soccer. King James the First of Scotland, " Na man play at the Futeball."

In 1815, many colleges and universities started to play by the Cambridge Rules. These rules were created by Eton School and English School. These were the first established rules for soccer and prohibited shin-kicking and other violent activities seen in rugby.

Eleven representatives from London Clubs and Schools met in Freemason's Tavern, in October, and made their own rules so they could play among themselves.

There came a time when people wanted to create a Football (soccer) league. In the December of 1863, the Rugby Football Association split apart and Rugby and Football became two different sports with different supporters.

After creating the association they wanted to make sure they had established soccer so in 1869 the Football Association strictly banned any handling of the ball.

In 1904, FIFA is created. By the 1930s many other countries made there own leages but FIFA was credited with having the first world cup in Uruguay.
