The Smooth Barrel Musket
The smooth barrel musket was one of the first guns and not accurate at long ranges. -
The Rifled Barrel Musket
Since the accuracy of the smooth barrel musket was terrible, the rifled barrel changed rifles drastically. It was discovered sometime in 1498. -
The Pistol
Although many other styles of handheld weapons were made before the 1700's, the first pistol like we know today wasn't invented until the 18th century. -
The Revolver
The first percussion cap revolver was invented by Samuel Colt. The revolver typically has to be cocked after each shot but modern revolvers do not need to be manually cocked. -
The Lever Action Rifle
The lever action rifle was a big change from the musket due to the fact it could hold several rounds and be reloaded much faster and easier. -
The Shotgun
The shotgun was invented through a series of other gun inventions. The shotgun can shoot either slugs, birdshot, or buckshot. -
The Bolt Action Rifle
The bolt action rifle was similar to the lever action but instead of a lever there was a bolt and it used a clip. -
The Semi-Auto Rifle
The semi-auto rifle is fired everytime the trigger is pulled, but is not a machine gun. The semi-auto increased rate of fire and was a big advancement in the gun world. -
The Machine Gun
The first self powered machine gun invented weas called the "Maxim Machine Gun" it was created by Sir Hiram Maxim. -
The AR15
The AR15 is a modern day semi or full auto rifle. It comes in many different calibers and is used for anything from hunting to law enforcement.
