After noticing what a horrible time Daisy had at his last party Gatsby decides to give them up all togther. After all, everything that Gatsby does seems to be motivated by Daisy in some way and this is just another attempt of his to win her over.

Tom Finds a fancy dog leash that Myrtle had gotten for her and Tom's dog. This is the first and only hard evidence Wilson has found of his Wife's affair and is what sends him over the edge.

Myrtle's death is ironic due to the fact that she was killed by Gatsby's car, the ultimate symbol of materialism and also because Daisy was actually driving and she unkowingly plowed down her husband's mistress

Gatsby spends the morning with Nick as his is still distraught over what happened to Myrtle the day before

Gatsby tells his butler to wait because he had not gone swimmimg all summer and today he finally wanted to. In this instant, Gatsby unknowingly choses the location of his murder.

Nick proceeds to miss the following train as well beacuse he is reluctant to leave Gatsby alone

Even though Nick claims to be not worth a decent stroke of work, he finally boards the train and heads off to work

While Nick is still at work he recieves a phone call from Jordan Baker, which isn't uncommon at this time in the day, however Nick is uncharacteristically uninterested in their converstaion and ends their relationship by abruptly hanging up.

Nick calls Gatsby four times but there was no answer and he later finds that the line was being held open in expectation of a long distance phone call from Chicago.

At this point Wilson is still upset over the death of Myrtle and everyone who had gathered in the intial crowd, including Michaelis, left him.

Michaelis needed to take a quick break from babysitting Wilson but when he retuens to the garage Wilson is no where to be found and is already on his way to seek revenge for his wife's murder.

Geoge walks very slowly from his house and reaches Gad's Hill where he buys a coffee and a sandwich, but is too distressed to eat.

Wilson is spotted walking around West Egg in search of Gatsby's house

Gatsby decides to go swimming in his pool after not using it the entire summer. He carries the matress he wants to float on all by himself and refuses the butler's offers to help.

Nick takes the 3:50 train home from work

Wilson approaches Gatsby's house from the back and finds Gatsby sun bathing at the pool. Nick, the butler, the gardener and the chauffeur hear the gunshots and rush to the pool.

Nick wants to inform Wolfsheim of what happened to Gatsby, but no one answers his office phone.

Daisy doesn't answer the phone and is told that she and Tom left home earlier that afternoon leaving no adress or any indication of where they were headed.

Wilson goes to Tom's house because Tom is the only person he can connect to the car that ran over Myrtle. He then threatens Tom with a gun until Tom finally tells him that Gatsby is the onwer of the "death car"

The morning after Gatby's death Nick sends Gatsby's butler with a letter adressed to Wolfshiem urging him to vome out to West Egg on the next available train

Later that afternoon, a man who refers to himself as "Slagle" calls long distance thinking that he wil be reaching Gatsby and tells Nick that "young Parkes in trouble" before realizing who he was actually talking too.

Three days after Gatsby's death, Nick recieves a telegram from Gatsby's father in Minnesota telling him that he plans to leave for West Egg immediately to attend the funeral.

Henry Gatz arrives in West Egg for the funeral looking solemn, helpless and dismayed, but is extremely impressed by his son's financial sucess and lavish possesstions

Klipspinger calls completley unaffected by the death of Gatsby and called soley to ask for a pair of shoes he had left at Gatsby's house. He hardly even acknowledges Nick's request for him to attend the upcoming funeral.

The morning of the funeral, Nick goes to Wolfsheim's New York office in order to talk to him personally and learns of how Wolfsheim and Gatsby had become bussiness partners and such close friends.

Nick runs into Tom while they are both in the city and Tom admits to telling Wilson it was Gatsby's car that ran Myrtle over.

Two years after Gatsby's death Nick looks back and reflects on all of the events of that summer and brings the story together
