    Fire alarm box 57 is thrown by 16-year-old Geoirge Hodan.

    The Duval Viaduct, City Hall, The Metropolis newspaper building, and the Elk's club are set on fire. The Hubbard building containing dynamite and other explosives causes the fireman and other civilians to run and take cover. The wind blows the fire west to the Furchgott's building, The Gardener building and the Mohawk Building. A Large waterspout is created from the heated winds and nearly capsizes escaping people on the Edith.

    Workers (of the factory) cooking lunch release sparks on to a pile of drying moss, fanned by the easterly breeze sets entire factory on fire.

    A fire storm sweeps over Beaver, Ashley and Church Streets. Telegrams are sent to other neighboring cities asking for help controling th fire. Chief Chaney colapses from heat prostration.

    Fire burns down two of the grandest hotels in Jacksonvile. The guests are evacuated frantically. All that was left of the St. James hotel is shown in the image.

    The Granite walls os the Armory at Adams and Market streets is described as "Melting like snow," because of the intense heat. The munitions inside the armory later expllode because of the heat. In the image all that is left of the Armory after on eafternoon during the fire.
