    Mein Kampf is published
    Mein Kampf (my struggle) is a book that Hitler published on July 18th, 1925. He began writing it in prison after a failed coup against the Weimar republic. It was an autobiography about his life and his reasonings for being antisemitic, as well as his future plans to deal with Jewish people and return Germany to its former glory.
  • Stock Market crash begins great depression

    Shares became more and more overpriced throughout the 1920s, and this led to people needing to pull out money to afford them. Eventually, the bubble popped, and the stock market crashed, falling more than 11% in one day, on black Thursday. People scrambled to pull out money and sell their stocks and banks collapsed.
  • The dust bowl begins

    The dust bowl was a series of dust storms that ravaged the American prairies throughout the 1930s. It was caused by both droughts and inefficient farming techniques, which led to the erosion of topsoil. The worst storm happened on black Sunday, April 14th of 1935.
  • Franklin Roosevelt is elected president

    Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected during the 1932 election in a landslide victory against herbert hoover, who was regarded by the American people to be the one primarily at fault for the great depression. He was the first democrat in 80 years to win the majority of the popular vote, as well as the first democrat elected since 1916.
  • Adolf Hitler becomes chancellor of Germany

    When Hitler was elected as chancellor, it was during a time of major political upheaval and done primarily to mollify his supporters by the actual president. Several influential supporters had sent letters to the president requesting to give Hitler the job.
  • CCC is created

    The civilian conservation corps was established by Franklin Roosevelt, and it allowed single men between 18 and 25 to join programs that helped conserve America's parks and forests. It was also an opportunity for young men to join the workforce at a time when not many jobs were available.
  • Olympic games in Berlin

    At this point, Adolf had become the leader of Germany. He had a 10,000-seat stadium and all-new facilities built, in an attempt to show off Germany's prowess. He thought it a wonderful opportunity to promote his ideas of racial superiority and antisemitism, but unfortunately for him, a black American named Jessie Owens won 4 medals in the sprint and long jump events, out-competing his German athletes.
  • Germany invades Poland

    Germany invading Poland was the catalyst that started WW2. It was a direct violation of the treaty of Versailles, and the soviet union partnering with Germany made everyone nervous. France and England were the first to declare war against Germany for this action.
