Literal Heart of Jesus
The Literal Heart of Jesus is the support group where Hazel goes. Her mom thinks that the support group will help her make new friends and become a normal teenager as she works on getting better. This is also where she meets Agustus Waters and Isaac. -
It's a Metaphor
Augustus Waters has this obession with metaphors throughout the whole book. "You see: You put the killing thing right between your teeth but, you don't give it the power to do it's killing." Is what he says as he put a cigarette in his mouth after asking Hazel Grace to a movie at his house. -
A little obsession goes a long way..
An Imperial Affliction is a made up book written by a made up author which would be Peter Van Houten. Hazel Grace is obsessed with this book. It ends an mid-sentence. She wonders days and nights what has happened to the characters Peter has created. -
Blind and Single.
This would be Isaac. Agustus introduced him and Hazel at support group. He has to go through surgery to see if he has cancer in his eyes. Perks would be he is cancer free. Downside would be he becomes blind and looses his girlfriend Monica which says she couldn't "handle" being in the relationship with him after the surgery and he never hears from her again. -
What an egging surprise.
Isaac was so upset after loosing Monica he goes on a rampage breaking Augustus's basketball tropies. Agustus had the idea for Hazel to go buy a dozen eggs and drive them to Monica's house. As Augustus is guiding Isaacs aim to her green car parked in the driveway he lets it all go, cracking yokes everywhere. -
Funky Bones
Agustus take Hazel Grace on a date to a park behind a museum which is called Funky Bones. He then tells her that he is taking her to Amsterdam, which is where Peter Van Houten lives. She will be able to ask him all the questions she has. Augustus uses his wish the genies ( which is people who make sick kids wishes come true ) gave him to do this, Hazel had used her which she was younger to a trip to Disney. -
Amsterdam
Augustus, Hazel Grace and her mom head off to Amsterdam in hopes to find the answers that only they would know. After going to Peter Van Houten's house they realize that he is an acholic and just rude old man. Peter going off on one of rages on his asisstant who had set up the metting, Agustus and Hazel walk out the house not thinking twice. -
It's back..
While in Amsterdam and after Hazel and Augustus had expressed love for each other, he tells her that he had a PET scan done before he had left and his cancer is back and his parents didn't want him to go. They wanted him to stay and start getting treatment. -
Would you attend your own funeral?
Augustus Waters attends his own funeral. Crazy? Pretty much. He calls Isaac and Hazel to meet at the Literal Heart of Jesus to read his eulogies to him. He is then afraid that he will not live long enough to write Hazel an eulogy, instead he writes a letter to Peter Van Houten asking him to write one for her. -
The end..
At the end Augustus is afraid that he won't be able to write Hazel an euolgy. He then writes a letter to Peter Van Houten and tells exactly what he thinks about Hazel and about how much she is just amzingly beautiful. He asks him to write one for her because he won't and didn't make it to write it. That is how the book ends with the eulogy.
