-The Manila Times and Manila Bulletin were established -magazines were introduced in the Philippines -American comics arrived in the country -early radio broadcast experiments happened

Japanese Colonial Period

1945

-media censorship and underground media occurred -propaganda films were produced -the Filipino film industry was able to rise -radios were used for propaganda purposes -the television is introduced

Marcos' Regime

1986

-suppression of the press freedom -pro-dicatorship/pro-government newspapers were being pushed through
-music lyrics and chords were feature in notable publications -the film was heavily censored

-the Constitution and Bill of Rights protect the media -many popular film production companies still flourish -establishment of many online forms of communication -Philippines is now part of the Internet and is constantly adapting to new technology for better media development
