Origin of The Eucharist
The Eucharist began at the Last Supper of Jesus and his disciples. It is said Jesus took the bread and gave it to his disciples, telling them to eat of it as it is his body and to take a cup and tell them to drink it telling them it is his blood. -

Transubstantiation in Christianity, the change by which the substance (though not the appearance) of the bread and wine in the Eucharist becomes Christs real presence. This wasnt introduced until the 1300s -
Beliefs
The Eucharist is a celebration of praise and thanksgiving to the Father, remembering and celebrating the actions of Jesus Christ, and given power by the holy spirit. -
Symbols
There are two main symbols associated with Eucharist, the first being the bread meant to symbolize the body of Christ and the main support of the spiritual life, and the wine which is representing the blood of Christ, which is associated with life. -
Changes to the Eucharist
Not much has changed to the ritual of Eucharist, except many churches dont use straight from the loaf rather a smaller circular bread called Sacramental Bread. Some Churches also use grape juice instead of wine.
