The Development of Physical Education in the United States

  • Charles Beck: became the first recognized teacher of physical education in the UnitedStates.

    The program that he developled, Gymnastics. The school contained a gymnasium, and Beck primarily taught German gymnastics.

  • Sport Education Model Devloped

    Sport Education is a curriculum and instructional model. Developed by D. Siedentopin early 1980.
    Sport Education was designed to replace the traditional multi-activity model of teaching games, sports, and competitive activities in the Untied States.
