This is Erikson's first stage "trust versus mistrust" The crisis is having the infant loved and cared for (trust) or not being well loved so the child doubts that life will be rewarding in the future (mistrust).

    Eliza picks out her own outfit for the first time without her mother's help. This is Erikson's second stage "autonomy versus shame and doubt". The crisis is that the child would be able to make some of their own decisions (autonomy) or the child would be too restraint or punished and therefore develop a sense of shame and doubt.
  • The Perfect Day

    The Perfect Day
    Susan marries the man she has been best friends with since she was five. This is Erikson's sixth stage "intimacy versus isolation". The crisis is that young adults will enter into a committed intimate relationship (intimacy) or the young adult will not desire a committed relationship and instead end up being unhappy and alone (isolation).
  • A Helping Hand

    A Helping Hand
    Zach helps at the local youth shelter making meals for the less fortunate children. This is Erikson's seventh stage "generativity versus stagnation". The crisis is that individuals in middle adulthood would focus on how to better the future generation (generativity) or become too focused on their own needs (stagnation).
