    In the overture it gives the reader a brief description of the setting as well as an insight on one the main characters, reverend Parris. We find him kneeling at the foot of his daughter's bed. The read is then told that the daughter (Betty) is inert and will not wake from her slumber, what mysterious power is at play?

    We are greeted with a description of Mr.Putnum, afterwards it occurs to Putnum that what seems to be affecting Betty is also affecting his daughter as well. with a great portion of room believing that witch craft is at play, Paris is reluctant to denounce the notion to keep from hysteria.

    During his trek home, Proctor emerges from the woods and is greeted by his wife (Elizabeth) who is angry with him. The two begin to argue tossing accusations back and fourth, until proctor is fed up and tells Elizabeth to stay in a woman's place he then threatens to strike her. just then Marry steps in to break up the two.

    Hale arrives at Proctors home demanding it be searched to uncover signs of the devils work, soon the house is crawling with hale's men searching for anything to prove Elizabeth guilty. Proctor asks why is Hale searching at their house to which Hale replies there have been suspicions of poppets in the house hold. Shortly after only one poppet is found in marry's possession with a needle right in the middle of it. early that day Abby said she felt a sharp pain in her chest.

    Betty suddenly awakes to the girls that took part in dancing, to which she tells them she saw the devil in the flames and that she must fly to him. soon after John Procter enters the room to find Abby tussling with Betty, Betty falls back asleep just as she mysteriously had awoken.

    Elizabeth is taken away to jail, so Proctor decides to court to prove her innocent. Proctor explains the poppet was placed by no one other that Abby, but this does not go as planned because the court grows suspicious of how Procter knows so much of Abby's true intentions. Proctor is then forced to spoil his name by explaining his affair he had with Abby as a married man. Although Procter tells the truth the court does not believe him,so Elizabeth is called in to ratify Proctor's statement.

    With Giles wife still on trial for suspicion of witch craft , This infuriates Giles to the point where He begins to threaten Putnums life. Danforth the demands his removal from the court for his vile remarks. Shortly after, Abigail and Marry conspire to lie and say that they're witch's, leaving the court in shock.
  • Act 3- The right choice

    A week after the trials, we find Hathorne,Parris, and Danforth discussing what to do with those accused during the trial. Danforth gets the idea to speak with Elizabeth so she could persuade Procter to share the names of those who conspired in witch craft. Shortly after Proctors is brought in for questioning, Proctor confesses to being a wizard and signed a document saying he did confess. the last thing proctor had to do was give up name, Proctor refused and was sent hang for his crimes.

    After turning down Danforth's offer Proctor decides to be hung, rather than have his name plastered on a door for all to see. He said if he dies his children's names are still clean and untainted by his sinful deeds.

    With his fate sealed Proctor,Rebecca, and Martha were sent to the gallows where a short prayer was said and shortly after Proctors rope was dropped.
