The Creation Of Finding Nemo

  • Sydney, Australia Exploration

    Sydney, Australia Exploration
Ralph Eggleston and his team took a trip to Sydney Harobr, Australia to get a feel for the environment and experience what they were soon going to create.

Had to decide what sort of fish to use in the movie, so they narrowed it down...
"One of our first priorities was to make the fish seem appealing. Fish are slimy, scaly things and we wanted the audience to love our characters. One way to make them more attractive was to make them luminous. We ultimately came up with three kinds of fish – gummy, velvety and metallic. The gummy variety, which includes Marlin and Nemo, has a density and warmth to it."
  • The sketching and storyboard of Nemo

The sketching and storyboard of Nemo
The storyboard directors sketched out the main scenes of nemo, and presented them in a certain order/framework which is called a storyboard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J6OhMB4xS4&safety_mode=true&persist_safety_mode=1
  • The Animation Process

    The Animation Process
Then, animators took multiple steps and processing procedures to create the animations of Nemo and his friends- including two storyboards and many animation layers and processes (more explained in the next event).
  • The Process of digitalizing and adding movements, etc.

The Process of digitalizing and adding movements, etc.
To bring their stroyboard to life, creators sculpted figurines of Nemo and other charachters, and tagged specific coordinates to digitalize their structures, and to later be able to control digital movement. After the addition of the digitalized structure, graphic artists and animators combined to make all of the movements, speech, actions, colors and texture, and other placements of the movie within a program, creating the movie layer by layer, scene by sene.
  • The merging of science and art

The merging of science and art
"Helping the animators get up to speed on fish behavior and locomotion was Adam Summers, a noted professor in the Ecology and Evolution department at the University of California at Irvine." He helped give an insight of fish adaptation and statistics throughout the process and creation of the movie.
