Opening of the rock
For the Russian and European science this monument was opened by D.G.Messerschmidt during his journey on the river Tom from Tomsk to Kuznetsk about July 15, 1721. Tomskaya pisanitsa appeared at the end of the Neolithic age, IV-III thousand years BC it served as a sanctuary before I millennium BC. This rock attracted attention of researchers during of hundreds years. -
Creation of the Museum.
This unique museum was founded in accordance with the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of Russian Federation of February 16, 1988. Tomskaya Pisanitsa is the first Siberian monument of Rock Art which became the museum. It is a unique monument of history and culture of Eurasia. Nearly 300 drawings are well-known from the Tomskaya pisanitsa. -
Opening of the complexes.
In 1995, the museum-reserve organized an international conference on the ancient rock art; were created such expositions as an open-air museum "Petroglyphs Asia" , it is now the largest repository of collections of rock art in Central Asia and the archaeological complex "Arheodrom". -

In 1998, the Museum "Tomsk pisanitsa" won the national competition "Museum of the Year" -
A Brand of Kuzbass!
In 2005 the reconstruction of the museum was carried out. The museum became the acknowledged scientific research center and the real smithy of scientific personnel. "Tomskaya Pisanitsa" today - this is the dynamically developing multiprofile cultural complex. "Tomskaya Pisanitsa" is the favorite leisure place of inhabitants and guests of Kuzbass. The politicians, businessmen, the representatives of culture and science often visit Tomskaya Pisanitsa. Today it is a brand of Kuzbass!
