The American Revolution

  • The Navigation Acts

    The Navigation Acts were laws passed by the British Parliament that created restrictions on colonial trade which was used to bolster British state power and finances.
  • The French and Indian War Ends

    The French and Indian War ended with the Treaty of Paris. In the end the war benefited Great Britain in gaining territory in North America.
  • The Stamp Act

    The British government passed the Stamp Act on the colonists. The Stamp Act put a tax on paper.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was a mob of American colonists who started throwing snowballs at a squad of British soldiers who were patrolling. This started a fight and many colonists were killed in this massacre. In the end this massacre ended up helping the colonies unite against the British and desire their Independence.
  • The Tea Act

    The British Parliament passed the tea act which granted the tea company the right to ship its tea directly to the colonies without first landing in England.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party ultimately lead to the American Revolution.
  • The Coercive/Intolerable Acts

    The Coercive Acts which are also known as the Intolerable Acts to the American colonies. These were a series of British laws that were pasted by the British government to punish the colony of Massachusetts Bay for the actions of the American colonists when they dumped the tea into the bay during the Boston Tea Party.
  • The First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress took place in Carpenters Hall located in Philadelphia Pennsylvania between September 5th and October 26, 1774
  • Lexington and Concord

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord officially set of the start of the American Revolution. The British came into the colony of Boston to capture military leaders in Lexington and destroy weapons/ammunition in Concord.
  • The Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress, held in Philadelphia, confirmed the normal functions of the government, paper currency, ambassadors, appointing generals, and raising the Continental army.
  • Declaration of Independence is adopted

    Written by Thomas Jefferson, The Declaration of Independence states the American Colonists reasons for wanting independence and the official act taken by the colonies to declare independence It became known as one of the most important document in the history of the United States.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The battle of Saratoga was known as the turning point in the American Revolution. It is know that it gave the Patriots the opportunity to recruit the French, Spanish and Dutch to join their side in battle.
  • The Winter at Valley Forge

    The Winter at Valley Forge was a Continental Army camp under the direction of General George Washington. During this time hundreds of soldiers died of disease and it was one of the coldest winters during the revolution.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown was the last major battle of the American Revolution and the start of the new nation of the United States's new independence.
  • U.S. Constitution Written

    The U.S Constitution is a document written and signed by two representatives from each of the 13 colonies. It consists of Americas national government and fundamental laws. There was also amendments to the constitution that were added on to critique the document.
  • US Constitution Adopted

    The US Constitution established America's national government. It was singed by the delegates at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.
