Navigation Acts
This act prevented colonists from selling their most valuable products to other countries other than Britain. The Navigation Act, as well as other trade laws, helped merchantilism. -
French and Indian War
This war was fought by the french and english over ownership of the new American land. Both countries wanted to colonize the area but the british came out victorious. -
Stamp Act
Britain expectied america to help pay for the debt of war. Parliament passes the Stamp Act, which was when the americans had to pay for a special stamp to be put on newspapers, wills, and other things. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was an act of rage by the american people over the heavy taxation. To rebel, they dressed up as indians and threw all the tea from England into the Boston harbor. -
First Continental Congress
Representatives from all the colonies exept Georgia met in Philadelphia to form the first continental congress. -
Battle of Lexington
British soldiers and American soldiers fought thier first battle at the Battle of Lexington. Then fighting spread to Concord. -
Second Continental Congress & Declaration of Independance
The second continental congress issued the Declaration of independance, written by Thomas Jefferson, in 1776.
The Declaration stated that America would be free from Britain. -
French join the Americans
The french helped the Americans fight off the British by entering the american revolution.
