The pandemic started in the year 1981. The world had little to no knowledge of HIV/AIDS.The pandemic arose when a huge amount of cases involving homosexual men were being reported. By the end of 1891 there was 270 cases.The virus spread throughout the world through bodily fluid. I am going to provide objects which will contain insight of how the world gained knowledge and then awareness for this deadly disease. More information can be found at,

The world was so unaware of what it was, how it spread, and how to keep from catching it. A pamphlet was sent out to everyone homes to notify the public of this deadly disease. As you are able to read through the pamphlet, image back in the 80's reading this pamphlet off your door step. Image how the then paper held so much knowledge of a deadly disease that would later go down in history. -

This is an illustrated hand-written, drawing saying that Ronald Reagan and George Bush were racist, sexist, and anti-gay. During President Reagan's term he was unsupportive of the community dealing with AIDS. It took Ronald Reagan 3 years before he supported the HIV/AIDS pandemic. -

The AIDS pandemic created a huge strain on people who had the disease. The world seemed to turn against the community that had the largest number of the disease. This is a poster that says "March On Washington For Lesbian and Gay Rights" and the date "October 11,1987" when the event is due to happen. The poster is written on and very simple which is straight to the point of a protest. This a an event that shows how the public began to fight back for the rights of lesbians and gays who were struggling with AIDS. -
This is a red and gold plated ribbon created to spread awareness for the disease.This small object was not worn lightly, it was a time to honor the suffers of this disease.The world gained full knowledge of the disease and set aside their differences. People realized the disease was more than just a time to fight against each other, it became a time to fight with each other. -
