    Berners-Lee created the first web browser and first web server. The original first website described the project itself was published on December 20th, 1990. The internet drastically changed our lives, allowing us to access almost any information and communicate with anyone else in the world.

    Text Messaging
    The first text message was sent on December 3rd, 1992 from Neil Papworth. Mobile phones didn't actually have keyboards at the time, so it was sent from a computer to a cell phone. It said "Merry Christmas."
  • DVDs

    DVDs
    DVDs (Digital Video Disc) is a type of optical media used for storing digital data such as movies or television series. It has a larger storage capacity compared to a CD. DVDs were introduced by Sony, Philip, Pioneer, Toshiba and a few others. They were first released by Japan in November 1996 and first released in the United States on March 27th, 1997. This invention led to the company Netflix being created, and renting DVD's by mail.

    MP3 Players
    In 1997, Tomislav Uzelac invented the first successful MP3 player. This was a huge impact allowing us to shrink down original sound data from a CD, without losing sound quality. This led to one of the most popular music software, Winamp. One of the first MP3 players created had 64 MB of memory, which at the time was enough to hold 18 songs.

    Google
    Google was founded in 1998 by Sergey Brin and Larry Page. Originally it was named BackRub and decided to change it to Google. It is now the largest search engine in the world. This has impacted our lives in many ways, providing us with immediate information. Gaining knowledge has become more accessible and has provided unique opportunities for people.
