  • Galileo Galilei

    Galileo Galilei
    Galileo used 2 pieces of glass to build his own telescope and made the discovery that there was four large moons aroung Jupiter. Later he then found that Venus orbits around the sun, thus coming to the conclusion that all planets orbit the sun.
  • Sir Isaac Newton

    Sir Isaac Newton
    He studied light using prisms. He redesigned the reflecting telescope.
  • William Herschel

    William Herschel
    William Herschel built the first gigantic reflecting telescope and it was 12 metres long. He also discovered Uranus
  • Mount Wilson Observatory

    Mount Wilson Observatory
    The observatory was founded by George Hale. This observatory contains some of the greatest telescopes including the Hooker telescope and the Hale telescope

    Edwin Hubble
    Hubble found out that our galaxy isn't the only galaxy in the universe. He also found that objects are moving away from eachother so the universe is expanding and he named the turn red-shift.
