    Origin of the TTP
    The Tehrik-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group started up in 2007. In 2007, thirteen militant groups formed together to create the umbrella group which is now known at the TTP, under the rule of Baitullah Mehsud.     Allies of the TTP
    The TTP has close ties with other terrorist groups, with Al-Qaeda being one of their closest ties. Both groups share resources, while the TTP provides safety for Al-Qaeda in the Afghan-Pakistani border, while Al-Qadea provides ideological guidance.     Location of TTP
    The TTP's location is obviously in Pakistan, while their Headquarters is in South Waziristan, Pakistan. They border Afghanistan.

  • U.S. action against the TTP

    U.S. action against the TTP
    The United States has performed many drone attacks against the TTP. One of which was responsible for the death of former leader, Baitullah Mehsud. A drone attack may have also injured current leader, Hakimullah Mehsud. Many of the TTP's attacks against the US, have been in responce to the drone attacks.

    Camp Chapman Attack
    The Camp Chapman attack was a suicide attack that occurred in December of 2009. Camp Chapman is a CIA facility located in Afghanistan.   • Times Square car bombing attempt

    Times Square car bombing attempt
    In 2010, there was an attempted Times Square bombing. Despite being ignited, the bomb didn't explode.   • Declared as a terrorist group

    Declared as a terrorist group
    In September of 2010, the United States would designate the TTP as a terrorist group. Support or doing business with the group is now illegal. Canada and the British government would designate them as a terrorist group the following year.

  • Shooting of Malala Yousafzai

    Shooting of Malala Yousafzai
    The TTP claimed credit for the shooting of 14-year-old Malala Yousafzai. Malalal is known for her woman's rights, and her blog about her experiences under the Taliban. She is current in critical condition. (Picture is of Malala)
