    The Manhattan Project was a code name for the project of development the first atomic bomb created in New Mexico during WWII. Its creation was caused by Americans fearing that Germany was already working on nuclear weapons since the 1930s.

  • Yalta Conference

    The U.S president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, the British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, and Soviet Premier, Joseph Stalin, met to discuss the post-war fate of the defeated Germany and the rest of Europe. It was located in the city of Yalta and lasted from February 4-11.
  • Roosevelt's Death

    On April 12th, 1945, President Roosevelt suddenly dies from a stroke. Vice President Harry S. Truman take Roosevelt's place and remains the commander in chief of WWII.
  • The Uses of The Atomic Bomb

    President Truman authorizes the uses of atomic bombs in WWII. the first bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and the second bomb was dropped three days later onto Nagasaki, Japan.

  • The National Security Act of 1947

    President Truman signs the National Security Act of 1947 creating the Central Intelligence Agency, the Department of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the National Security Council.

    The Soviet Union created its first atomic bomb in 1949 and as a result, President ordered the development of the Hydrogen bomb in 1950. In 1953, President Truman announced that the Hydrogen Bomb was created.
