    Philips Electronics invented the first portable cassette for audio.
  • Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) memory chip

    Robert H. Dennard invented this memory chip in 1968. This chip increased the capacity of computers at a cheaper price.
  • Beginning of the internet

    In 1969 the ARPAnet sent the first message through the internet from one computer to another.
  • Floppy disks

    In the early 1970s, the Floppy disk hit the market. It was sold by IBM and Memorex. It was essentially a small square piece of plastic that led to the invention of USB sticks.
  • VCR

    In the mid 1970s, VCRs were made smaller and more affordable to the public. These were used to record television and were manufactured by Japanese firms.
