Microsoft ships Windows 3.0. With the updated version, Windows made PCs able to support large graphical apps for the first time. It also allowed multiple programs to run at the same time. -
Linux
Linus Torvalds began developing the Linux operating systems. Originally trying to build a new operating system for his Intel PC. Linus ended up making one of the largest platforms for popular internet companies, like Google and Amazon. -
The Pentium
Intel released the Pentium's fifth generation of the microprocessors called 'x86'. This helped programs run fast and have programs execute several instructions. This even helped support graphics and music. -
JAVA
Java was originally supposed to be used for television. James Gosling and his Green Team worked hard on this program but figured out that Java was too advanced for television. Now Java is being used for internet programming and is still very useful to this day. -
WiFi At Home
Vic Hayes also know as "The Father of WiFi" help invent IEEE802.11. This name was not catchy which made it difficult to catch on. In 1999, the name was changed to WiFi and was introduced to home use.
