Buffalo Trace Bourbon Timeline By Williams_Jake 1792 Kentucky becomes the 15th state in the union 1811 A three story warehouse is built to store goods near the Ohio River to store goods including barrels of whiskey. 1858 First distillery is developed by Daniel Swigert using the warehouse near the Ohio river. 1870 Colonel Edmond Haynes Taylor purchases distillery 1872 Colonel Taylor builds new distillery onsite. 1878 Original Distillery is bought by George Stagg but still is overseen by Colonel Taylor. 1882 Lightening Strikes original distillery and the distillery bursts into flames. This was known as "The Great Fire." 1885 Construction of new warehouse is complete, finalizing Taylor's vision for his "Model distillery plant of the world." 1897 Albert B Blanton joins the company at age 16 as an office boy. 1900 Albert B Blanton is promoted as Still House, Warehouse and Bottling Superintendent. 1904 The distillery is renamed as the George T Stagg Distillery 1921 Albert B Blanton becomes president of the George T Stagg distillery 1929 The distillery is purchased by Schenley Distillers Corporation 1942 The distillery produces its one millionth barrel after the Prohibition 1949 Elmer T Lee joins the distillery 1953 Warehouse V is built in celebration of the two millionth barrel. Warehouse V was the first and only "single barrel" warehouse 1984 The Distillery introduces "Blanton's," the worlds first single barrel bourbon. Named after president Albert B Blanton 1992 Distillery is bought by the Sazerac Company 1999 Distillery is named The Buffalo Trace Distillery 2000 Buffalo Trace is awarded "Distillery of the Year." The first American distillery to win the award 2008 Distillery produces the 6 millionth barrel 2013 Buffalo Trace Distillery is named a National Historic Landmard 2015 Distillery purchases more land expanding the property to over 400 acres.
