    After deciding between many different locations, Lafayette, IN was chosen to be the site of the new Subaru plant.
  • Subaru-Isuzu Automotive is incorporated

    A few months after deciding the location of the Subaru plant, Subaru-Isuzu Automotive is incorporated.
  • Ground broken for Subaru plant

    In May of 1987, ground was broken for the automotive manufacturing plant. Construction begins.
  • Phase 1 production begins

    Production of automobiles begin. 60,000 Subaru Legacys and 60,000 Isuzu pickups and Rodeos start to be created.
  • Grand Opening

    On this day, the plant began its week long grand opening ceremony.
  • Subaru seperates from Isuzu, becomes SIA

    In January of 2003, Subaru seperated from Isuzu. It became Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. under sole ownership of Fuji Heavy Industries LTD.
