Star Trek: Enterprise Flounders
Following a string of successful films and four television series, a prequel series taking place a generation before the original, Star Trek: Enterprise fails to wow and is taken off the air after a three season run beginning on Sept. 26, 2001 and ending on May 13, 2005. Its failure is attributed to franchise fatigue. Another Star Trek TV show will not achieve orbit until 2017.

Star Trek Reboots

ST: Discovery Returns Trek to TV
Star Trek returned to TV in 2017 with Star Trek: Discovery which follows the adventures of the Starship Discovery crew 10 years before the original series. The show is noted for Star Trek's first African-American female lead character, Commander Michael Burham and first openly gay character, Engineer Paul Stamets. The show is continuing into its third season this year.

Captain Picard Returns
With the success of Star Trek: Discovery comes the new series Star Trek: Picard, bringing back the fan favorite from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Captain Jean-Luc Picard set 20 years after the final ST: TNG film. The show premiered on Jan. 23, 2020 and has already been renewed for a second season.
