    a terible drought hit the prairies and turned the farms into a dust bowl. on top of that there where infestations of grasshopper in the farms.

    investors sold shares more and more, shares floded the market at exrtreamly low prices.alot of people lost money and some even commited suicide.

    government gave men jobs to keep them off the streets, these jobs ranged from building much needed city infrastructure to building roads. men did these jobs in return for room, board, meadical care and 20 cents a day.
  • on-to ottawa trek

    on-to ottawa trek
    hostiles grew in the relief camps because workers wanted better conditions and health/ employment benifits. worker moved to vancover because arthur 'slim' evens a union trade organizer lead the workers in strike. local government refused to adress complaints.so even took them to ottawa.

    after 'slim' evens meeting with the PM bennett, and getting thrown out a public meeting was called to update the people on the progress. bennet decided to arrest the 8 leaders of trek. the crowd fights back with sticks and rocks, the fight lasted back and fourth till midnight. at the end one constable is killed and 100 were injured.

    hong kong was a British Crown Colony so canadian soldiers when to help defend it agianst the japanese atack. even though the military training the canadian soldiers had they had no chance agianst the japanese, but refused to surender until they were over come by enemy. those wh survived became prisoners of war and many endured tourture by the japanese.

    after hong kong canadians wanted revenge and struck at the japanese canadians. more than half of the japanese canadians living in canada were born here, many even fought in ww1. canadians ignored these facts they decided japanese where dangerous spies. they were sent to bc to isolated camps.

    fishing villages along this area had been secured by the germans. the plan was to secure those areas and cut off road access between the towns Caen and Bayeux, and take the airport out side of caen. in the morning germans sent spy plans, the alied forces set up empty tents, dummy ships, plywood flyers and inflated tanks in south east England.
