The Axis Powers was mainly lead by Nazi Germany, The Kingdom of Italy and The Empire of Japan. on the 15th of October 1936 Italy had signed a treaty with Germany (probably since the were allies during WW1) which created The Axis Powers. Japan signed the treaty on the 27th of September 1940 giving The Axis Powers the 3 leaders. -

Operation Dynamo
created by the allies during the battle of Dunkirk. Operation Dynamo was the evacuation of soldiers stranded at sea. even civilians volunteered for the Operation and were provided or already had boats and went out to sea to save them. it was a risky business since the had to deal with the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) and boats were constantly bombed. the evacuation was eventually successful resulting in 198,000 British Troops and 140,000 Allied Troops evacuated -

After Germany had destroyed the little resistance of France and Britain. Hitler had both of them in his grasp the war was surely his but he wanted more and set a course for an invasion of Russia. the battle of Stalingrad one of the worst battles of WW2. the Wehrmacht troops had advanced to the city limits, the place was bombed day after day German Troops were snuffing out the last pockets of resistance.
