The first St Mary's Cathedral is built. It's a simple stone structure, built in the gothic style.

Extensions begin, under the direction of the architect A W N Pugin, who designs it in a more correct gothic style.

A fire occurs on the 29th of June and the church is ruined.

A new foundation stone was layn, with plans from the architect William Wilkinson Wardell, to make it an outstanding revival of gothic architecture.

The northern section of the cathedral is now open and dedicated, despite being incomplete.

The central tower and opened section are now completed and dedicated.

St Mary's now becomes free of debt and subsequently is consecrated.

The naive is completed and the cathedral is complete, apart from the spires.

Pope Pius the XI gives St Mary's cathedral the title of Minor Basilica.

The spires are built, 72 years after the rest of the building had been completed.
