GUI began before people started accepting it on personal computers in the early 1970s. Applications in that period mainly uses a CLI (Command-Line Interface) an early variation of the GUI we use today. -

Windows 95 was released and was the last GUI concept for windows.
This release of windows gained a lot of popularity through out the world. People even brought it without even owning a computer. this was the last version to have a independent MS-DOH.
