  • REDI'S EXPERIMENT

    REDI'S EXPERIMENT
Francesco Red made the first experiment to prove if the spontaneous generation is true. The experiment consisted in placing fresh meat in each of two different jars. One jar was left open; the other was covered with a cloth. Days later, the open jar contained maggots, whereas the covered jar contained no maggots. Red noticed hat maggots were found on the exterior surface of the cloth that covered the jar. Redi demonstrated with this experiment that spontaneous generation was not possible.
  • SPALLANZANI'S EXPERIMENT

    SPALLANZANI'S EXPERIMENT
Spallanzani didn't agree with Needham's conclusions of his experiment. He did his own experiment to prove that spontaneos generation was not possible. This experiment consisted in placing broth in two different flasks, boiling the broth in both flasks, then sealing one flask and leaving the other open. Days later, the bottle that wasn't closed had small living things. The sealed bottle showed no signs of life. This definitly proved that spontaneous generation was not possible.
  • John Needham's

    John Needham's
In England, John Needham disagreed with Redi's findings so he wanted to prove by hisself that spontaneos generation was possible. He did an experiment in which he placed a broth, or gravy, into a bottle, heated the bottle to kill anything inside, then sealed it. Days later, he reported the presence of life in the broth and announced that life had been created from nonlife. This conclusion have an explenation and is that he did not heat it long enough to kill all the microbes.
  • PASTEUR'S EXPERIMENT

    PASTEUR'S EXPERIMENT
Louis Pasteur definitly proved that spontaneous generatino is not possible and life don't arise from non-life matter by doing the following experiment. He designed several bottles with the necks curved like an S that were oriented downward. He placed broth in one bottle, boiled the broth inside the bottle, and observed no life in the bottle for one year. He then broke off the top of the bottle, exposing it more directly to the air. After this hi observed life-forms in the broth.
