A referral is a request for your child to be evaluated for special education.

The IEP team must meet within 15 calendar days of the referral.

Parents sign permission to the IEP team to evaluate their child.

IEP team has 45 calendar days from when parents give permission to evaluate, complete evaluations, and provide parents with written results.

All evaluations are completed and the parents of the child has the written results.

IEP team has 30 days to hold this meeting to discuss the evaluation results.

Once the child is determined to have a disability the IEP has to write an IEP for the child within 30 calendar days.

When a parent asks for an extension to review their child's IEP.

The school district and the parents have 30 school days maximum for an extension and must fill out a request form that must be approved in order to do so.
