When Christopher Columbus set sail, he left to find silk and spices in Asia. He first landed in the Bahamas on October 11, 1492. He was the first recorded to find the new world known today as America. This was very important because none of the other explorers eould of known about this route which means no America.

Hernan Cortes came to Mexicao in 1519 where he conquered the deadly aztecs because they mistook him for a famous God. He found so much gold that it sparked many other countries to send explorers to north and south Texas.

Pineda was the first to map the gulf coast from Florida to Texas. This was one of the most important achievments because no one wouuld have had an easy route if he wouldnt of made the map.

Cabeza De Vaca's leader was a man known as Pánfilo Narvaez. His purpose of the expedition was to find lots of gold in Florida.

De Vaca didnt intentionally go to Texas. They wrecked and washed up on the beach of Galveston, Texas. Starving, dehydrated, and desperate, he was the first European to come to Texas.

Their purpose for going was to study then to the north and to verify the 7 cities of gold. When they got to Quivera there was no gold and all they were doing was hurt the indians so Tirk lied to them and told them about another city. Supposibly the city had everything gold and was run by amazon woman. They belived him and went where they were completley tricked. They then left. He then wrote to others that there was a city filled with gold as large as Mexico City.

When Coronado took of he went for 1 reason which was to find the 7 golden cities for Spain. Two of the cities he went looking for were Ciobola anad Quivera.The importance of his journey was that he found nothing and reported how bad the state was so no one else would come back.
