    aryabhata

Aryabhatiya contains one of the earliest knowledge of algebra and some advanced knowledge about astronomy. Aryabhata argued that the the eclipes weren't caused by the angry god but caused by sun overlaping the moon. He also argued about they see the moon due to the reflection of the sun and how the rotation of the heavens is due the earth's axial rotation.

    Copernicus

    Nicolaus Copernicus
In 1543, Copernicus published a book about a new idea he had. Most people in his day thought that the Earth was at the center of the Universe, an idea known as a Geocentric Universe. They thought that the stars were little holes in a glass ball which surrounded the Earth.
Copernicus thought, "what if the Universe is not centered on the Earth? What if the Earth is actually a planet circling the Sun?"

    Galileo

Shortly after copernicus died a new astronomer was born, his name is galileo galilei. Galileo Galilei was famous for proving that the earth circles the sun. He also discovered that the moon wasn't just a round ball but it had craters, and how venus and mercury circle the sun aswell. Galileo proved that everything falls at the same speed and he proved it to everyone who disagreed!

    Edmond Halley

Halley's Comet is the most famous comet. It is going to return to Earth's orbit about every 75 years, making it possible for a human to see it twice in his or her lifetime. Edmond Halley is the one who discovered the comet but didn't live to see it. It will return in 2061.
  • CSIRO

Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) made is 1962, CSIRO manages the Canberra Deep Space Communication, One of three stations NASA uses to communicate with spacecraft.
  • Animals in Space

The first animals sent into space were fruit flies aboard a U.S.-launched V-2 rocket. The purpose of the experiment was to find out what would happen if animals were exposed to high altitudes.
  • Laika

In 1957 Laika was a Soviet space dog who became one of the first animals in space, and the first animal to orbit the Earth.
  • NASA INFO

Nasa was founded July 29, 1958, NASA stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration

    American Space Missions

Mercury: Goal; Get humans to orbit the earth in a spaceship. Launch date 5 May 1959-1963.
Gemini: Goal; To support Apollo.Launch Date was 1965-1966
Apollo: Goal; Reach the moon. Launched in 1968-1969.
Skylab: Goal; To get a space station into orbit. Launched 1973-1974.
Apollo-Soyuz: Goal; To get information for the next Nasa and soviet flights.
Mir: Goal; For Russia to finally have a space station.Launched in 1986-2001
    ISS:Goal;To collect information for NASA.Launch 1998
  • Yuri Gagarin

Gagarin was a Soviet pilot. He was the first human to journey into outer space, His Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on 12 April 1961.
  • Skylab

Skylab was the first space station that was launched by the United States. In 1979 Skylab began it's re-entry into Earths orbit, but not as expected. What happened simply, was that NASA had it's calculations off, which caused Skylab to crash.

    Shuttles

The difference between a space shuttle and a spacecraft is that a shuttle is is reusable because it lands on earth again, like an areoplane. There has been more than 135 launches AKA missions the first one was in April 12th 1981 and the last being on 21st July 2011.The Space Shuttle Challenger disaster occurred on January 28, 1986, when Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart 73 seconds into its flight, leading to the deaths of its seven astronauts on board.
  • The Hubble Telescope

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is a space telescope that was put into orbit by a Space Shuttle in 1990 and remains in operation. The telescope is named after the astronomer Edwin Hubble. It has given us hundreds of thousands of images.
  • Pluto

Pluto is not a planet because, during a vote astronemers came up with a list of things that a planets needs to have to be a planet:
A round shape, it needs to orbit the sun and has to have cleared the area in it's orbit and because pluto is just one of the 70,000 objects in it's orbit. So Pluto is considered a dwarf planet or large asteroid
