  • Pioneer Program- Launch

On the pioneer program there was 14 men in the spacecraft, and all of them died. There was a series of spacecraft persformances to Venus, Mars, and the Sun. This Program was launched because scientists wanted to know more about space and for planetary ecploration. This spacecraft traveled to the moon, the sun, Saturn, and Venus.
  • Sputnik Program

The programs of Sputnik, Mercury, and Gemini all started NASA and were made because they wanted to get the US more involved in space exploration
  • Period: to

    Venera Probes

There were 16 missions for the Venera probes. Russians sent all 16 to Venus.Three of the 16 missions failed, and there were two orbiters, six landers, three probes, and two orbiters and landers. While the probes were in space, they took pictures of Venus and discovered information about the atmosphere. The first successful probe was the first spacecraft to land on Venus.
  • Gemini Program

The programs of Sputnik, Mercury, and Gemini all started NASA and were made because they wanted to get the US more involved in space exploration
  • Mercury Program

The programs of Sputnik, Mercury, and Gemini all started NASA and were made because they wanted to get the US more involved in space exploration
  • Period: to

    The Mariner Program

These space probes are sent out to orbit the planets Mars, Venus, and Mercury and alos take pictures of them. These two dates are the two most important probes that were sent into space and were very successful, but there were other probes as well these two probes are 5 and 9.
  • Viking 2 Probe

The Mars Viking Probes were the probes to take the first high definition picture of the surface on Mars. This probe reached Mars on August 7, 1976
  • Viking 1 Probe

The Mars Viking Probes were the probes to take the first high definition picture of the surface on Mars. The Viking 1 Probe reached Mars on June 189, 1975.
  • The Voyager Probes

The Voyager probes were to investigate into further space and take pictures of the universe, new planets that may have not been discovered, new stars, new galaxies, and more. There were only two voyagers. The second one launched on September 5, 1977

    The Magellan Spacecraft

The Magellan Spacecraft launched in Lands Cape, Florida and was sent to Venus to map its' surface. Also, the find out about its geography and gravitational field
  • Galileo Spacecraft

The Galileo was meant to view Jupiter and discoveredt that Jupiter has 16 orbiting moons. The spacecraft got to Jupiter, its' destination, on September of 1995. On December 7th, 1995 Galileo became the first spacecraft to orbit Jupiter.
  • Hubble Space Telescope

The Hubble Space Telesope is still in space today. ThuThe telescope observed Pluto in detail and discovered a fifth moon around Pluto. The Hubble also discovered dark energy and every 97 minutes, Hubble makes a revolution around the Earth.

    N.E.A.R Mission

During the N.E.A.R mission, there was a lunching period between February 17 and March 1, 1996. This mission was because scientists wanted to know more about the asteroid that surrounded Earth.
  • Cassini Mission

The Cassini was sent to orbit Titan, but on the journey to Titan, the spacecraft orbited Saturn, and also discovered several moons belonging to Saturn. This mission ended July 2008.
  • Space Stations- Expedition1 (ISS)

The spacecraft was designed to hold a crew and stay in space for a long time low under Earth's orbit. Also, 400 experiments have been conducted in the last 9 years. These spacecrafts were also sent out to study the microgravity and other space effects.
  • Period: to

    Genesis Spacecraft

The Spacecraft returned to Earth on Septeember 8, 2004. Also, this mission was an unmanned mission and was sent to space to study solar wind. They used a honey-comb shaped device to collect the solar wind to being back to labratories and find out more information about the sun.
  • Mars Rovers- First

This is the first U.S. Tover to go to Mars. The Rover landed on January 4, 2004 and is no longer in space.
  • Mars Rovers- Last

This rover landed on August 6, 2012 and is still active in space today.
  • Expedition 35

This expedition is still in space today, and scientists predict that it will land May of 2013.
